I have a Arca-Swiss Z1 dp monoball head on my GT3542 tripod but I am looking for a lighter tripod for trekking. I am thinking of getting the GT1532 but I would like to transfer the Z1 head to this tripod. Does anyone know if this head will fit the GT1532? Thanks for the inputs.

Sure it will screw on the 3/8" thread, but it may not be the optimal choice for the light GT15nn!
It weighs 9 oz more than the middle-size RRS BH-40, or 38 oz more than the smallest ballheads like the Markins Q13. So you end up with a top-heavy combination of tripod+head, so if you are transporting the combo from one place to another, it will travel head-down in orientation, and far more weight to lug around.

Wilt is correct on all counts. Tripods have a standard 3/8"-16 stud embedded in the base so almost all ballheads have a 3/8" socket. So yes the Z1 will spin onto the base of any series-1 or travel tripod but will make it top heavy. There will also be overhang as the Z1 base has a larger diameter than the base of a travel tripod which is generally around 50mm in diameter. You will not be able to fold the legs back over the ballhead parallel to the center column on a travel tripod if you use a large diameter ballhead like the Z1.

There are many good small ballheads on the market - Markins heads are liked on this forum but if you plan to use your new tripod in sandy or dusty environments they are not the best choice. However they're Arca-Swiss copies so you'd be immediately comfortable using a Q3 or Q3T. Acratech heads come in various sizes too and their smaller models have a 53mm diameter base which is very suitable for a small tripod. They're designed for extreme environments and very reliable, and the customer service from the company is good.
