I'd like to find the third-party company that makes canon batteries. No one in the world has yet to find this so-called company. If so please tell me!!!!

My Canon batteries say "Made in China." A couple--but not all--say that the cells are Japanese (probably--I hope--Panasonic). If all the parts were imported into China, it would say "assembled" in China, so I have no confidence that "made in China" can mean the components are also made in China. If it doesn't identify components made elsewhere, I must presume "Made in China" alone means components and assembly are all Chinese.

It does mean (I hope) that QC was to Canon standards, but there is no reason third party companies can't adhere to similar standards.

My Canon battery (LP-E6) says "Cell made in Japan - pack assembled in China".

My Wasabi and SterlinkTek batteries both say "PREMIUM CELLS FROM JAPAN - Made in China"

It's likely that they're all using the same cells, BUT not all cells from the same factory are created equal. Cells, like memory chips, LCD panels, or beef are graded after production and priced accordingly. I'm sure Canon buys the top-grade cells while 3rd party battery makes buy something below that. The question is whether A++ is worth over 4x the price of A+.

One year later, and my Powerextra battery from Amazon is still functioning flawlessly. So much so, that when both of my Canon LP-E4 batteries died I purchased a second. While they do not fit as snugly as the Canon ones, it was a simple fix to take the ends off of my deceased Canon brand batteries and use with these. For $25, on a 10-year old 1D3, I don't see how you can go wrong.

Canon 1D (MARK III),
10d, Elan IIE (old school), 580exII
70-200 f/2.8L, 17-40 f/4L, 85 1.8, 50 1.8 (nifty)
