Play with curves. You will notice that there are separate Red, Green and Blue curves.

The HSL adjustments also give you access to color adjustments.

You can also use the color toning tools which are usually used with monochrome images on color images.

Capture One has incredibly powerful color tools. Even PS doesn't have a tool like the advanced color editor.

PS has a huge selection of powerful methods available.

And if you want an inexpensive but still quite good program that is like Photoshop, check out Affinity Photo.

A recurring question has been how to get the Black Bars - here is a Ps tutorial that is less than 30 seconds.
I adapted to PS Elements.
