I have not purchased a refurb lens but I have purchased (2) DSLR bodies and (2) Speedlights. All looked to be essentially new. Should I need a lens I would purchase it without any reservation assuming the price was right.

I didn't but the 24-70, but did get a 400mm f5.6 referbished. Fantastic lens. I've also picked up a 7D referb body a couple years ago, going strong as well.

I've bought various things from Canon Refurb (camera, lenses, and flash) and they all look like new and have worked great.

At $1519 (1 year warranty) they aren't much more than what the pre-owned market is asking.

I want the 35mm f/1.4 v2 to come back in stock.

I would have no hesitation to buy a refirb from canon

It has the same warranty as a new lens

I've purchase a lot of Canon refurb gear, bodies, lenses, flash. I've never had problems with any of it. I once got a 50 II that wouldn't focus. Canon paid to ship it back, and refunded ALL my money. No problem. I believe it was my 70D that had almost 3,000 shot on it. Initially, that smoked my goat. Whatever, it came with a warranty and worked as well as new until I sold it. No problem.

I bought a 24-70mm f/2.8 mk I from B&H nearly 10 years ago & have had a number of photogs comment about it's sharpness compared to other shop-bought ones.
(I'm putting this down to having been specifically "attended to" by a tech rather than just the normal QA inspections)
Wouldn't hesitate to buy another if the need ever arose.

some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", 1D MK II converted for IR, and now an M5

preowned dip much lower than that, and tax is an extra 150 around here. Wait for a refurb sale IMO. Other than that, great lens, I had the refurb and retail, turns out the retail was faulty, so I had to get rid of it. Refurb was all good.

plus you pay tax and maybe shipping. in general canon refurb prices aren't worth it to me unless there is a further discount like they sometimes offer. go to canonpricewatch and compare to "street prices"

I bought refurbished 24-70 L II directly from Canon few months ago when they had 15% discount. The lens is as good as new, no issues at all. The only difference is that I didn't get an original box, but considering the savings on price vs new lens, I can live with that. :)

I bought a 24-70mm F/2.8 II, a 70-200mm F/2.8 II and a 100-400mm F/4.5-5.6 II, all refurbished, last summer when they were running some discounts. They all look like they were brand new and I have had zero problems with them. Also, one of my bodies was a refurbished one and it was like new, also.

I don't hesitate to buy refurbished gear from Canon. Never had a problem with anything that I have bought.
