Hi all,

I am not sure where to put this exactly as it is not video editing... yet..

While I have zero issue with my 5D MKiii shooting stills, today was the first time I tried video on two of our factory floors. For some reason video will start to record fine and then intermittently stop at varying times, it could be 5 seconds and the longest it would go was 38 seconds.

I am running a Sandisk Ultra 16gb SD card that was emptied before walking in to either factory.

I was shooting at 1280 60fps in ALL-I mode.

I will be at 1 more of our factories tomorrow and would love to have this fixed before then. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Shaun

I tried switching to 1280 60fps IPB and testing in my hotel room seems to be allowing for 2+ minutes of video.

Switched back to 1280 60fps ALL-I and it looks to hit the buffer and time out.

Went back to IPB and it is again filming without stopping.

I am thinking the card just is not keeping up with the lack of compression. I will find out tomorrow.

The SD slot on the 5d3 is very slow. You may need a compact flash ultra to get what you are looking for. This is one of the biggest complaints on that camera. Two slots, but bottlenecked by the SD....

Also IIRC the CF card speed is limited if you simply put a card in the SD slot. So even using a fast CF card can ht the buffers if you have a SD card in the camera. It also doesn't matter how fast the SD card is, as it is a limitation of the camera hardware, not the SD card.
