joayne, I remember when a colored phone (i.e., not black) cost extra.

I haven't seen exactly that design before, but the general shape is what the word "phone" suggests to me: something bulky and curved, with the approximate proportions of a frog at rest. Nowadays, when I read "your phone" or "our phones"–meaning everyone's–the writers are talking about those flat little rectangles instead, a very different mental picture.

Good one for sure. I can’t remember ever seeing this particular color or style. Perhaps a Special Cali version.ߙ

It must be older than the newfangled custom of calling the state "Cali."

The more I look at it, the more I like its design. The lines remind me of Studebakers from the same period, Raymond Loewy designs (external link). An online search turned up many images of Bakelite phones but very few of that model. It may be rare and possibly valuable.

Kodak disk film; one of the worst ideas from the film era, IMHO

Unexposed? Not that you'd be able to process it.

Mom bought me that camera so I would stop using her Minolta. It worked until i realized 3x5 was as big of an enlargement as you could make.

Wow, classic.

A friend of mine has a shop that is like a giant garage sale with the purpose of reusing items for art, etc. They have a working rotary phone. Blew my kids' minds.

A quality 3x5 would be on a good day. Most pictures came out terrible. I had bought that camera (2 of them  ) for my mom who always had a passion for pictures (not to be confused with photography). I replaced that garbage with a good quality Minolta point and shoot film camera which was always with her until it broke. I have kept that Minolta for the memories, along with thousands of negatives. I eventually bought her a digital point and shoot which she loved until she couldn't use it because of her failing eyesight :-( She still carries her point and shoot and hands it to people to take pictures for her.
