I'm going to Hong Kong for a week with family (wife and 3 young kids) to visit grandparents. I want to bring a relatively light kit, preferable just 2 lenses. Do you have suggestions on what to bring (gear list in signature)?
Priority is family photography as that's the point of the trip. Travel photography is secondary. I've been there a couple of times before and will likely go back.
I'm thinking 24-70/2.8 for flexibility. Then either 35/1.4 or 135/2 for low light (leaning toward 35/1.4). Unfortunately, none of those lenses have IS, which would be handy as I'm thinking of not bringing a tripod. I could substitute the 16-35/4 IS, but that seems like a bad trade off compared to 24-70/2.8.
The only reason to bring tripod would be for group pictures (not sure if I'll take long exposure shots at night). Seems maybe not worth it to carry around?
Finally, do you think a flash would be useful?
