Hi guys
After a small shoot I did for a band on Sunday, I've decided to buy some PocketWizard units for my Gemini 500Ws. Until recently I've used some cheapo transmitter/receive system recommended here (the $20 ones from canada), but having attached it to my new 5D, it doesn't seem to work any longer - not to mention they've never worked with my Sekonic light meter. Now I have a question - my Gemini monoblocs have built in wireless, where you can set one light as master, one as slave, and when one is triggered, it triggers the other off. With the PocketWizard, should I be buying 3 units - One as the transmitter for the camera, and two as the receivers, one for each light? Or will it be alright to simply to buy one transmitter and one receiver, and let the gemini's handle themselves using their own wireless? Is there an advantage to using two PocketWizard receivers, for extra accuracy or? Alvaro

you can most likely just get one transmitter and one receiver and let the strobes handle the rest. Situations where this wouldn't work is when there is something in the area that's causing your strobes to trip when you don't want them to, if you have the money, then get three.

Pocket Wizard now has a Pocket Wizard Plus II out that is both a transmitter and receiver. I have a set of tx and rx of the older Pocket Wizard Plus and needed to get another receiver so I could fire my camera and flash at the same time. I found the transceiver about the same cost as one of the others, so I bought it (around $185 if I remember right) from B&H and have already used it to fire both my camera and my monolights. It works great. So get 2 of the transcievers and you will be all set for what ever you need.
