In some cases I prefer photos or off site links that open in a new window. However since I use Safari (OSX) I have not seen the site.

As lakinuno commented W3C compliant code would make it more universally viewable. When I see a site "optimized" for a particular browser, I go elsewhere.

*Just my humble opinion.*

I cannot use any link, nor navigate from your home page. I am viewing on a Mac Sys OX using Safari. Unless I am doing something wrong, you have eliminated that audience.

Hi caymiss and TByrne,

I think I have eliminated you guys! Sorry about that!

Obviously I would like the MacOX community to view my site as well. As previously stated, I have test everything under IE5+, FireFox and Opera and everything works fine.

If anyone wants to look at the site with Safari, use this link:
http://www.raysnaregallery.com/start.php

However, I would appreciate some feedback. ie what works or does not work!

Could you explain to a beginner Dreamweaver user how you make slideshows?
I really like the look of them!

Hi,

I used javascript for my slideshows. There are plenty of examples on the web of how to do this. I suggest you use an example and modify it according to your needs. A search in google with javascript slideshow will give you a few starting points.

I am glad you like the site!

mtonsbeek - you have some great shots there!

I have just made the graduated grey the default colour of the site.

BTW, Even through you can write W3C complient code, it is still up to the browser as to how the html is displayed. It still needs testing!

I like the functional choices you've made here Ray - personally I quite like pop-up images because this approach eliminates the problem of having to optimise the main site layout to display the images effectively without them breaking the layout on smaller monitors.

But as you're using the pop up approach - make the images bigger!

Browsing in Firefox, incidentally.

Hi Keith,

I am glad you like the site design.

I had easy of use and simplicity in mind when I designed it. I think I have achieved my main design goals.

Popups seem to be a personal choice, at least according to the feedback I have received on this site. As you correctly mentioned, the layout of the main site is not disturbed by a picture being in a popup. With saying that, I have also tried to cater for those non-popup people. If you select style in the menu, and then select one of the simpleview or jalview styles, you will see that the gallery picture is integrated in the main layout.

Bigger pictures ....... perhaps in a later release.

Thanks,

Ray

I have just changed the front page text to read:

Site tested with IE5+, FireFox, Opera 7+. Optimised for IE5+. Enable Javascript in your browser.

This thread went from personal photo gallery info to software beta test/feedback space. Do not do that here please.
