I was out with a couple of horse-owning friends today who suggested I come along and see if there were any pictures worth taking. Seemingly people make a fortune taking pictures at horsey-type events, which is something of a temptation for me.

When it came to the 'money shots' - the kind of things that people pay for - I struggled a bit. Thankfully, when I got back to my usual looking-for-the-arty-shot mood, I think I did OK..

Comments and critiques are more than welcome; I can see myself shooting more horses (if you see what I mean) in the future. Has anyone got any of their own they'd like to share..?

though the light was harsh afternoon and the bleachers were not facing the right way ya take 'em like ya find 'em.

this was my first experiment with the 70-200 2.8 and the 1.4x. i shot off a monopod with the is turned off. it was a local rodeo but we take our rodeoing serious.;)

not bad for what it was.

everyday is a learning experience!;)

Pretty boring but my first picture taken with the 30D and kit lens was of my horse Opal. She weighs about a ton and costs more to run than both our cars but basically the wife would kill me if I said anything untoward

I used to have a boarding stable-gone with the divorce--but love horses. Stopped byt he side of the road and got this close-up of a horse's eye. My reflection can be seen in the original.
