Both are nice and sharp and the bokeh is wonderful.
Try to focus on the eyes especially if you're using a shallow DOF.
These are very nice but in both of them I'm looking at their rear ends. (Ol' One-Eye) Try to shoot while they are facing you or at least looking over their shoulder.

The nuthatch is going out of focus at the eyes, which is such a shame as it's otherwise a good shot. The chaffinch is much better because the visible eye is sharp. Shirley is right about birds facing you. Small birds will regularly look over their shoulders for potential threats so that's the time to snap.

Little Bob has a cute butt. Chaffinch looks pretty good but maybe a different angle.

Are these any better? Cropping suggestions to aid composition would be welcome.
