OK, this is the last one.

Unless I manage to get out this Sunday. If I do, you're going to get assaulted by more landscapes attempts by me. Maybe I'll even have land in them.

If you get *real* lucky I'll just give up and go back to birds, or go to a zoo or something.

OK, last one....

Just be thankful that I'm not trying portraits:

"OK, a little blue makeup on her arms and some of that orange on her beak. Um, nose. Great! OK, Charlene, flap your arms. <click> Yeah, that's excellent. <click> Work the camera! <click> <click> Now grab that sardine. <click-click-click> Yeah Baby!"

You can take my 100-400 L away when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers.

The colors of the trees are amazing! Beautiful photo! Inspiring too. Now I'll have to wander around here and see what I can... see. :)

Superb shot, looks excellent!

Makes me want to find a lake around here somewhere that has scenery like that and snap some shots.

that's a beautiful scene

did you do some (even a little) texture business (or likewise )on it at all?
just thought the trees and the water look chunky..ish

but it's nice

?!
is that lake called after an indian ?

Thanks folks.

Alas, Charlene isn't interested in posing. I'm not sure why. I offered her 3 herrings an hour, too.

Marie, the name comes from the Abenaki Native American word meaning "land around lakes." There are many lakes in this area - called the Lakes Region of New Hampshire for some reason - and several small islands in Lake Winnipesaukee itself. (I got tired of spelling it in it's semi-pronouncable way, thus the title.)

I did very little to this shot, really. I may have over-sharpened giving it a textured look. But it was also a very windy day thus creating a choppy water, so maybe that's what you see.

Actually, the origin of the name is not completely clear. It may be a combination of the native words winni and sorgee (which would mean smiling god).

Boy I hope it isn't your last landscape, It's great :D :D I also agree that the phontic spelling is fine, having been brought up in connecticut, which took me 20 years to learn how to spell,   I know how tough the Indian names can be. half the rivers lakes and towns around here are derived from Indian, oops (P.C) Native American names. :P :P
I think the lake shot is as good as your birds and they are great. :D

the name is Winston but they call me Sandy
