Default Radio Control Float Plane Fly Day - Part I

Guess this is considered a sport?

Local RC Club held their semi-annual Float Plane gathering. Really a lot of fun and some great photo ops.

First big day out with the 40D, 100-400mm L in Sports Mode

A beautiful calm day, reflection shots were facinating. Electric powered

One of the more "popular" models represented.

Ruggedly built in most cases. See Part II

Quite a few "electrics". Power to weight ratio was great.

Enjoy

That last one is sick. I've been thinking about buying one of those airhogs things, are they worth it?

Cool shots. Do you have any with the planes coming at you during take off/landing? If you get a chance to shoot them again, maybe drop the shutter speed and pan to show motion.

These are some great shots and some cool planes. Love each one. I got my seaplane rating in a real life version of a 1943 Piper Cub....simply awesome. And that shot you have looks like the real thing!

BTW....you may want to clean your sensor....me thinks me sees some spots.

Not an AirHog, tho it is built out of Styrafoam. Called a "Storm Launcher" and about 18" long. Probably four times as expensive. Heck of a power to weight ratio, this guy could hover the thing. Uses differental power for rudder control.

I drove Helo's for 12 years, started my float plane training, C-172, ran out of money..

I thought it was the sensor also, but never was at the same location in the pic's and only when the smooth water was the BG??

Rest of the 200 pic's are on my site http://skyshaker.com Skyshaker? What does a Bell 204 do to the sky, at six in the morning?
