Note: IMAGE POSTING RULES

I have been a zoo photography enthusiast for sometime but I just found this section on POTN. So I hope to share my best images I have captured recently. I will start with the big cats.

Like your images very much. The shots of the lions are very nice! What zoo were these taken at? Again nice images, thanks for sharing.

A bunch of equipment with Canon on it and some stuff with Sigma on it. The desire to capture a moment in time and share it with you! :)

Thanks very much Pete. They are from the Singapore Zoological Gardens. :-)

The animals here are well looked after and there is an active animal rights group here to make sure! :-)

But seriously, almost all the animal pens are individually supported and funded by support groups, schools or private enterprice that 'adopted' the animals.

Cheers

WHITE TIGERS

One of my treasured captures I made a year ago. The tiger was jumping out of the water to catch its food. Captured with 70-200 f4L.

The rest of the images with 100-400L.

ORANGUTANS

Thanks everyone for the kind compliments! Here is another set - this time of Orangutans - primates found in the jungles of Borneo.

The first image is a close up of the hands of the the chap in the next image. He is the second oldest member of the clan at the zoo.

This juvenile less than 3 years old was swinging in the trees when I saw him and snapped this. He came down to feed where I captured his stare at me in the last shot.

some of the best zoo shots Ive seen,, excellent work,, usually I'm totally uninspred by zoo shots, but these are really nice,,very nice lighting and the environment doesnt look like they are caged,, The Orangutans are great,, I really like your first Iguana shot too,, really nice texture, wonder if you should have cloned out that thing on top of its nose,,again,, very nice,, I think that "L" glass might have something to do with it too ;-)a

MEERKATS

These skittish creatures are a darling to shoot. They have so much expression and character.

WOW, so many great pictures. My son and I went to the zoo yesterday here in Portland OR. and we were rather disappointed! No Lion and Tigers (my fav. and what I went there for) Very small living conditions and 90% of my pictures were taken through dirty glass :( Won't be going back there any time soon. Thanks for posting such beautiful pictures....I love them!!!

Thanks Christy
The local zoo has a great collection and managed very ably by a great team. The concept is open pens and no cages. The really dangerous and stealthy like jaguars and leopards are kept behind glass. but in a huge pen. check out the site here...http://www.zoo.com.sg/index.htmexternal link

I will continue to post more images I have taken over the years of the animals here.

Cheers
