Default Australian imported goods price drop/rise

did anyone see on the news this morning about the aus dollar droping about 20cents
and now all imported goods are going to cost more , but retailers now have a whole bunch of stock that has to be sold at the old price , so in a few months when all the stock comes in the price of the old stock will drop to so they can get rid of it ? does anyone think this could apply to lens's ?

Even when the Aussie $ is doing well, our gear and software prices suck. When the AUD was at US $0.98 I bought my 100m f/2.8 macro from Adorama for substantially less than any Australian retailer was selling for (even D-D-Photographics).

Man... 0.81 is a far cry from what it was not long ago. I bought up big on camera stuff from B&H etc. for far cheaper than what I could get stuff for over here, even grey market, when it was at 0.99 or 0.98... I'll just wait out until it gets back up there.

NOOOOoooo!! I've been in an isolation tank with no news or socialisation, so I didn't know this was happening!

Since mid July (when the Aussie dollar was US$0.97) I've had my finger on the button to buy heaps of gear from B&H. I keep forcing myself to be good, and get more experience with my starting gear so that I don't rush into poor decisions. (Bought my first DSLR in June this year.)

So now we're down to the US$seventies, and googling suggests it's not likely to get better any time soon?? I had no idea that my wait was costing me so much!!! I still agree with most of my original shopping cart, but even buying unwisely and then selling some of the gear might have been better for me.

Act now! 20% off all major brands!
Gitzo, RRS, Canon - all at rock bottom prices.
For a limited time only!
.... and I missed it.

P.S. Ah well... at least I've found a plausible justification should I ever catch Gear Acquisition Syndrome.
