Default Best Monitor for under 1000$

Does anyone have any recommendations for a good monitor for under 1k?

I was looking at second hand apple 30inchers but am leaning away from getting this used, even though I buy just about anything used.

Does it have to be an LCD?

Lots of 19inch Trinitron Flat Screen CRT's going cheap at the moment, and you would have to spend a couple of grand to get an LCD that is 95% as good.

Hard to go wrong with this... Although you just missed the 25% off discount that the monitor had.

great deals on HP's LP2475w.... review here but remember you absolutely need to calibrate it.
provantage has great hp promo deals for like $180 under retail/regular price. and it comes with every cable it has connections for, hdmi, dvi, etc. great monitor. i was dead set against wide gamut until i read more about it.

now i have switched to nikon d700 and use nx2 now but same deal either way.

review from tftcentral... http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/hp_lp2475w.htm

they really were impressed ONCE calibrated. mine wasn't so bad out of box but with i1Diplay2 and it was another world for me. this and full frame have opened up a whole new world for me.

oh and a new puget systems built i7 computer i had been specing out for months didn't hurt matters either.
