Default Milwaukee AHL January Pics

Some assorted photos from the past month of Milwaukee Admirals hockey. As always, C&C welcome. I tried a higher contrast on the most of the shots (with #s 7-8 being exceptions). Shot with 1D Classic and 70-200 f/2.8

#1 Milwaukee goalie #31 Mark Dekanich makes a save on Toronto's #41 Jiri Tlusty (1/8 vs. Toronto Marlies)

#2 Flames center #21 Jamie Lunmark takes a shot from the blue line. (1/20 vs. Quad City Flames)

#3 Milwaukee defenseman #4 Scott Ford takes a shot from the Flames' #75 Pete Vandermeer. (1/20 vs. Quad City Flames)

#4 Milwaukee center #13 Nick Spaling fights for the puck with Flames' #27 Brett Sutter. (1/20 vs. Quad City Flames)

#5 Rampage winger #19 Brett McLean scores his second goal of the 1st period against Milwaukee goalie #1 Drew MacIntyre (1/23 vs. San Antonio Rampage)

#6 Milwaukee All-Star #6 Cody Franson knocks off Chicago's Brett Sterling for the puck. (1/30 vs. Chicago Wolves)

#7 Chicago Wolves goalie #31 Ondrej Pavelec makes a save on Milwaukee All-Star #16 Cal O'Reilly. (1/30 vs. Chicago Wolves)

#8 Admirals Center #13 Nick Spaling crashes into the boards in a fight for the puck. (1/30 vs. Chicago Wolves)

Thanks for looking.

Nice Shots Chirs, Does the AHL have any restrictions on bringing equipment inot the arenas, I'm hoping to make a trip up to Grand Rapids before this season is over.

Awesome pictures man. Do you take these just for fun or actually for the Admirals? I haven't been to an Admiral game in years now.

Thanks for the comment Justin! I've tried for a couple shots like that, usually the player ends up OOF. Im not sure if its trying to AF onto the puck or what, but was glad that one turned out!

It varies by arena. Des Moines (Iowa Chops), Moline (QC Flames), Rosemont (Chicago Wolves), and Milwaukee all allow cameras from first-hand experience. Grand Rapids does not. For that reason alone, I will NEVER travel to GR for an Ads game. I mean, cmon its the AHL!

Thanks I just take them for fun and sometimes print some 8x10s to get signed by the player.

Great job on these. The colors look great, i prefer the higher contrast images, and you captured great action.

Hey Chris - I think these are great. Great IQ, good action and good captures. Can't ask for more. Are the players pretty open to signing prints for you?

Thanks, I believe it was namasste (sp?) who suggested I turn up the contrast and saturation on the pics. His advice really helped, as its sometimes hard to determine when you've gone overboard (or previously in my case, not enough)

Dan, Thanks! 2 nights ago, the team and booster club had a Celebrity Serve, with the players serving food and drinks. They also signed all of the 8x10s I needed signed, although throughout the year, after games they also have autograph sessions for 2 players and I usually get them taken care of there.
