With over 8000 defective Pocket Wizards on the street the company has now ceased shipping new product.

Sure makes sense. Given the reputation they enjoyed with their previous products, I certainly hoped they weren't about to throw it all away. I look forward to seeing more about what's going on.

I call shennanigans. Searches on Strobist, PW's site, Google, and Yahoo pull up nothing.

maybe true. B&H along with Adaroma say they're taking orders, that it's not in stock. I emailed PW. when in doubt, go to the mfg.

Unless this can be substantiated, this is no more than a rumor and hence needs to be moved to the appropriate forum. Sorry, Rich.

I can't provide any additional proof but I can tell you that my inside connection to MAC Group has confirmed this information. There won't be a public news flash and you're not going to see it on the Pocket Wizard site, but it is in fact true.
No one has to believe it but those of us that know it to be true know the source and information to be correct. I was the one that originally posted about new pocket wizards before anyone else had this information. I also knew that the Canon version would be released first and that was true. The size and form factor of the new transmitter and the functionality of the system turned out to be exactly what I posted because the source was inside MAC Group. Believe it, or not, as you please.

Then what's the defect?
And if they're not going to officially post anything about it, then are there going to be 8000 PW owners that are pissed off because of faulty units with a company that's not going to explain anything about it? |

Unfortunately I'm not well connected enough to have those answers but I did confirm the information posted by Rich. How it's going to be handled was not explained to me. Sorry.

Confirmed with MAC sales. PW's have stopped shipping for now until a firmware update is in place on the units. Estimated to be the end of the month. Those that have purchased will be able to DL the new firmware. Issues with the 430 flash. (I was not given specifics on what the exact problems were)

Can you move this back over to the lighting forum so it will be seen by those that should be seeing it?

Leo- I just had lunch with one of the company's Sr. Technical Support Engineers who told me this directly. This isn't rumor, this is fact.
