Question what mode, basic or creative, what % and why

Aloha, I just got my d20 not too long ago and really enjoy the pictures that I've been taking. I use my camera in the program mode 99% of the time just with the usual exposure comp and metering options that are available. I was wondering what mode do you use for a specific type of photography and why do you use that mode. Also what percentage of the time do you use it compared to the total amount of pictures that you take. thank you in advance for your input, it is much appreciated. mahalo!
