He may be a straggler who's been abandoned - although that's rare among loons. His wings have not fully grown, so I doubt he can fly very far - if he can. If he is around, he might hang around sheltered areas out of danger, so you may want to seek him out there.

He just turned up at this pond last Sunday....here's a shot with his wings fully extended, the one I first posted really doesn't show the wingspan he has.

LOL.....yeah, he is quite large. It was really funny watching him "walk on water" and then belly flop, going from one end of that pond to the other. Fascinating birds to watch.
