Outdoor snow Glamour shoot

Would like to try one of these this winter.
Did some preliminary reading already.
Things that came out,exposure of course for snow, keeping batteries warm, extra batteries, and proper footwear and clothing.

Would like o hear from someone that had done one of these about do's and don't and any other tidbits

Take a robe, foot warmers, and a thermos of hot coffee or chocolate for the model.
Use a Storm Jacket or similar cover for the camera and lens if you're shooting while the snow is falling.
Use a hood to keep the snow off your lens/filter element when shooting during a snow fall.
Fingerless gloves are good for handling and warmth.

I've never seen the point of fingerless gloves. My fingers go numb first, and when that happens, I'm done.

I have a pair of shooting mittens--gloves built into mittens with a slit across the palm, so that I can flip the mitten off the fingers, then slip them back in again.

I can use my camera perfectly fine with thin gloves on.

Different strokes for different folks - I like them myself, if you don't and have something else that works, that's great. I like the shooting mittens idea, but it really never gets so cold here where I shoot that the gloves aren't more than sufficient for me - and I imagine they're far less bulky.

They are making some intriguing thin gloves out of new thermal materials.

I have used some warm pads, that have a little disk in the middle that you snap, and turns the liquid into a warm solid - good for batterys

I have some built into my wet suit for the winter months around my kidney area

You can also re use them - Just wrap them in a towel and put them in some boiling water on the stove - turns it back to liquid

Cant remember the actual name but will let you know when i get home!

I guess the most important thing is keeping the model in good spirits, and warm! All your kit could be happy and warm and safe, but that will be all pointless if the model looks unhappy

I have a couple of those. They are awesome. The wetsuit trick is a great idea!

The ones that I have, don't have a brand name on them, but they were from Eddie Bauer, and has their name on them.
I think they also go by the name of "EZ Heat reuseable hand warmers"

They work wonders in the wetsuit! When your having a late session and it starts to get real cold but the waves are still pumping you just snap them they only feel warm to the touch but inside the wetsuit it feels like a little fire going on and with my winder West 4x5x6 wettie no heat is lost!
