I'll be looking forward to the landscape pictures... I try, but mine do not look anything like yours, even though I go to some of the same places!

The camera will be here on Friday, and the rest will be here next week (Tuesday, or Wednesday)

I can't waitttttttt!!! I won't be able to sleep!

Thanks for reading about my excitement

Congrats. I do hope your tripod selection is beefy enough for your new toy.

Well, I have had the camera for 5 days already!
I haven't really had any time to play with it, due to school, work, and some more school, but I do plan on FINALLY getting out with it [and the tripod] tomorrow, and I will be sure to post some stuff for you guys

Congrats man! You're gonna love it. Especially since you have a lot of stuff around you to shoot there in Trabuco. I used to live on and off with a friend there, and I lived in Silverado Canyon for several years.

Are you actually in the canyon or in the new area above it?

We live in a\the area above it.
I wouldn't call it "new" seeing as the houses in the community that I am in, have been here for at least 15 years...

I do have a friend who owns a ranch in Silverado canyon (about 5 minutes from where I live), and we usually go out and shoot (just by walking for a few minutes in any direction, there is a photo-op).

Aha... see. Last time I was out there, was about 15years ago. Most of the area around it was just being built.

I lived at the very last road at the end of Silverado - Halfway road, where the parking turnout is. I used to LOVE to hike out there. Spending many weekends camping in the hills above my house. (there is some great abandoned mines and mining equipment up there)

Ah, I miss it. 8-(

Yeah...
The only abandoned mine I know of, is Blue Light Mine (which was blocked off in 2003, then taken down, filled, and sealed off last year). What are some of the others??

There is an old mine on the Horsethief Trail, as well. It was up pretty high, and I didn't leave the trail to climb to it, but the tailings (sp?) are evident. I was just up there two weeks ago, and it is very scenic right now... The leaves are turning, and there are quite a few stands of pines.
