Default G-11 with 430EXII External Flash Question

I realize everyone's only had their G-11's for less than a month but have a question about flash control on the G-11.

I'd like to shoot 1 Stop over ambient with flash using ETTL. My understanding is in TV or AV modes only, I can set the flash mode in camera to Auto and Flash Set on ETTL and then use camera exposure compensation and or flash compensation to get my lighting ratio to the 2:1 ratio I want?

Or

I could go all manual with both camera and flash and meter for ambient, meter flash for exposure with a flash meter and adjust flash output in camera to get the value I want?

Are those my only two options? In other words I CAN"T use ETTL in manual mode? Is that the way you see it?

Thanks in advance for the quidance.

Found the answer to my own question. ETTL is not supported in "M"anual Mode on the G-10. You have to adjust flash power manually either on the flash or settings menu on the G-10.

good to know, I plan on buying a Vivitar or some other cheap flash in the future that has bounce. I have never used an external flash so I expect to be baffled.

I made a number of comparisons with my G9 (same exposure and flash logic) using exposure and flash compensation and posted the results here, http://lightdescription.blogspot.com...20compensation
