Only you can answer that. I have no idea on your time constraints.

Have never succeeded in firing an off cam shot yet...

I followed the manual, which is lack of detail for a novice like me...
Thank you for reading and helping: )
I am using them with 40D with no problem doing multiple shots as you describe. Your problem sounds similar to one encountered much earlier in this thread. I believe the resolution was that they had not ordered the proper canon compatible unit. Did you get the one specifid for "40D"?

i still have my CTR-301P. if you work around 30m distance max, then CTRs are very good. they have been very reliable for us.

Thumbs up Re: New Wireless Shutter Release / Flash Trigger System RF-602

Thanks a lot
It's labeled for 20D, 30D, 40D, 5D.
Maybe they labeled wrongly..I'll check with my friend's 40D to confirm...

When the receiver is connected to a camera via the three lead cable it offers the half press focus lock and the full press shutter release. I suspect the biggest difference between the model for the 5D and the one for the other Canon cameras is the connection to the camera.

I'll know for sure when the version for the XSi gets here. I already have the 5D verson.

The shoe for the flash offers the wake up feature for Canon or Nikon flashes via whichever of the contacts control that feature. That is also the first of the two step function of the transmitter.

The problem earlier in the thread --I think-- was a Nikon transmitter sent with Canon receivers.

The 40D problem sounds more like some other configuration problem or a defective device.

The 1/4 plug for monolights is a two lead connector.

Yes, they work on 5D2 and 580 IIs... Max sync is 200

I'm pretty sure they are only rated to 1/250 at the most, so HSS will be of pretty limited use, even if you can get it to work on the 5D2 as you will only buy yourself an extra 1/3 stop of shutter speed over the normal 1/200 sync speed. Also, I have read that people with the 5D (Mark II?) are only getting 1/160 with consistent success and cannot even get to 1/200 with that camera. I've had 1/250 without problems with my 50D and 1D3. At 1/300 on my 1D3 (its max sync speed) there are clear signs of shutter curtain shadow, so I really think 1/250 is the best you can hope for, unless you can frame to crop out the curtain shadow from one side of the image.

Thanks, so from your replies that makes another thing to consider when thinking about these. I'm now thinking it might limit usability in some situations.

I just received my RF-602 for Canon and it works fine as a remote camera trigger. But when I use it for my Sunpak PF30X, my flash unit won't flash. The leds on both the receiver and trigger go in sync. My flashgun works perfect on my camera (Canon 1000D). Anyone has had the same problem with Sunpak?

The spec for the RF-602 stating 1/250 max sync speed does not mean that it will magically improve the sync speed of your camera. It means that the processing delay required to convert the electrical signal to a radio signal, transmit it and decode it to an electrical signal again is such that a camera with a sync speed greater than 1/250th will not get sync at a shutter speed faster than 1/250.

The general rule of thumb that I apply when using radios for flash sync is 1 click (1/3 stop) below my camera's sync speed.

My brief testing indicates that the RF-602s will work with my 5Ds at 1/200th for 580EX, 580EXII, Quantum Qflash and AB800s and ABR800s.

So will my Cyber Syncs, PWs that I have used with my ABs show just a hint of shutter curtain shadow at 1/200th.

I've read a lot of posts on the RF-602s.It seems that the concensus is that they are superior to anything short of the much more expensive stuff(like Radio poppers and Pocket Wizards).Am I right,or should I consider other triggers? Thanks!!

I have not used any of the higher end stuff, just the canon wireless and 602's. I can't imagine why I would need anything oter than the 602's. Work everytime, small, convenient, nice enough looking. Now that I am getting used to not using ETTL, it is easy to see why the pro's don't use it (much) either. I am sure the pro's here could chime in on the benefits of the more expensive products that I am not aware of, but for me 602's are perfect.
