Just purchased a new 50D and am also new to this website and its' forums. Has anyone posted a Custom Settings Spreadsheet for the 50D? I find making my own menu selections to be a pleasant task, however an acccompanying Spreadsheet helps me to know if I'm on the right track and making the correct menu choices. This is my first Canon digital camera and I'm not entirely familiar with everything on its' menus. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you one and all.

I agree Jurgen. Some of those people weren't that nice either - not exactly a good idea if you wanted the press to paint you in a good light. Thankfully the protest was relatively violence-free.

Why is it that the 50D only stays at ISO 400 in P,AV and TV mode when a flash is attached? It is so annoying to not have Auto ISO just because I have a flash. My XSi still does Auto ISO with a flash attached. At ISO 400, it slows down my shutter speed WAY low when taking pictures indoors in AV mode.

When flashing, the ISO value pretty much determines the power of the flash, and the lighting of the background.
Choices only you can make. The camera will only adjust ISO to get proper exposure for the area it wants exposed right. When using flash, this value should always be the same I believe. Like I said, exposure is not determined by the ISO, but instead by the strength of the flash.

Wow Collin.
Very nice. Excellent portraits with a 50D. Interested in the lens and exif if possible. Nice DOF separation. I like the post work as well. Lovely model. Thanks for posting these. |

Very nice flyfish1. Really sharp, great exposure. A 50D with a 10-22 at f/8 is very sharp and gives lot's of detail. Congrats on your purchase, looks like a great beginning. Show more when you get them. Tim |

The most part of the pictures posted in this discussion are from my last travel in Portugal (in October). Actually I don't live there (even if I would like to)...I'm from Italy...precisely I live in a small sea town 2 hours from Rome, it's called Gaeta and...it's beautiful as well If you're interested you an take at look at some of my pics of Gaeta in my little portfolio here: STEFANO VIOLA PHOTOGRAPHY
