Personally I would avoid the Hoya and go with B+W. I had Hoya and found them very time consuming to clean, for whatever reason.

There is certainly something to what Doc says - I bought a Pro1 several years back. It does a fantastic job, performs as delivers, was not cheap....but I got it on sale.
I clean my glass with microfiber cloths and for some reason I spend what seems like too much time when I clean this thing. It gives me some great images, but you have to work at the smears. Anybody know why this is, or if they've addressed this situation?

Like - rklepper says - Hoya's are hard to clean , my newest one is about 3 years old , was told they fixed problem with cleaning -they had not .
The thing about being hard to clean is being afraid of scratching , changing or destroying coating [ s ] . I took back to camera store , they cleaned it the same way I did - The only other Hoya's I have are / come with a used lens and are only used / carried as spares if I don't have a B+W . People say Heilopan are high quality , but unless I am given one I won't try . The price difference is not enough to take a chance on something I don't like - or hard to clean etc . I use a UV with a KSM in front of it . I also have a Moose filter which I don't like either .

I would buy a Hoya HD or Pro1 Digital polarizer. I have both and they are fantastic! I don't like the SMC version you linked up top as it is not a slim design and doesn't have front threads. The slimmer designs avoid dark corners and such when used with wide angle lenses. And without front threads you can't put a lens cap on the front of the filter. Also, you can't put a grad ND holder on the front either. Look at the above mentioned Hoya polarizers below for great prices. Compare these prices to B&H and you will see what I mean.
