Default Frank - portraits

Hello,

I am practicing studio portrait. I don't have my own studio but I made use of a corner of a room. I learned some things after this shoot. I should space the subject away from the wall (the room was kind of small) to lessen shadows.

I only had a 420EX as OCF triggered by the 580EX II. I realize there are shadows but I thought they sort of work in these pictures (except maybe for the 1st one)? What do you guys/girls think?

They are about two stops underexposed and the lighting on the subject seems to be coming from everywhere rather than specifically designed to accentuate his features. I boosted the first image up two stops. Note in particular his scarf. In the uncorrected image it blends in with his shirt and collar.
