Yes, there are no electrical contacts.

Quick question. Is there any kind of warranty with these? Will Cameta exchange it if you get a bad copy? That's my only concern about this lens.

i recently bought on and had to send it back. The focus ring was so stiff it was putting to much force on the camera.

Waiting for a new one to be sent to me.

Yeah, there is no electrical contacts like on the ZE Zeiss lenses. What you can do is buy a NIkon mount one and then use a NIkon to Canon adapter with an focus-Confirm chip. If you buy it from the right place, you can even get one with the FL an aperture encoded and microadjust in the chip.

Thanks for answering my question Jman. I'm planning on using it with video so this should fit the bill .

The sharpness and lack of general "haze" at f/1.4 is remarkable

The lens comes with a one year factory warranty. Concerning Cameta, I bought a really bad Sigma from them, and after one email they urged me to send it in for a replacement. Cameta, in my opinion, has great customer service.
