wroclawianie , Hi These are very good , almost too good for the 70 - 200 , I have been shooting with this lens together with a IDmk2 for years and they dont come any where near the clarity of these , especially 2.8 and high iso . I can acheive this is I stop down to 3.2 / 3.5 . Maybe as the others have said I should throw my 1dmk2 away and get a 30d .

I also shoot manual , is the 30d better than the 1dmk2 in higher iso

Someone has already asked , but I see no answer , so could you tell me your post process / programme .

Thanks

I will say that 1D2N is better than 30D in high iso, but not that much anyway, so simple!

I think I asked a while ago. There has to be some top notch post processing involved for the JPEG shots to come out so impressive.

Bardzo dobra serja...(very good series)... Keep up the great work... Most enjoyable action shots... and very representative of a truly fast hard action sport...

Ah sorry to say that, but i was shooting with 30D, because of 30D i bought 1D2N and i never look back, i saw the photos taken for sports from of both of cameras, and the shots from 1D2N were slightly better in noise at high iso and even resolution [at least 1D2N sensor is larger a bit than 30D], and to be honest, if you get impressed with 30D shots, then 1D2N should do as well, if you want i can show you somewhere else many sports shots taken by 1D2N+70-200f2.8IS @2.8

1DMK2 has faster and more accurate AF than 30D.
This is the most important in sports.
If You have accurate AF You can take pictures F2.8.
People often are not right saying that F3.5 is sharper than F2.8.
F2.8 has a smaller depth of field.
Minor AF error and the picture is blurred.

My 70-200 was repaired three times. When I bought it there was a big backfocus. When I got it back from the repair it had a huge frontfocus...
Now it works almost correctly - it has little frontfocus. Problems with the BF / FF is nothing compared to the weak AF 30D.
I just do a lot of photos and choose the sharpest ones.

I remove noise, adjust the white balance, contrast. I also sharpen the image a bit. I don't use RAW.
Everyone has a different camera, different lenses and qualities of images. Everyone must choose for itself the optimal settings for post-processing.

wroclawianie ,

I understand what you are saying ,but I have to disagree I shoot with the 70 - 200 at 3.2 or 3.5 or f4 but no higher to allow for the lens softness , may be my lens . My 300 2.8 is I use at 2.8 no problem .

You obviously have a lucky combination .

Good luck to you , it looks like you work hard at your photography , so I hope you get paid well for it .... nice images .
