'Tis The Season


'Tis The Season is the topic; interpretation and subject matter is up to you. And, of course, have fun!

This challenge begins when posted, and will end at 6:00 pm Pacific time Thursday, 10 December 2009. Winner of this challenge will be announced shortly thereafter.

Photo Submissions:


1. Camera - Any Canon DSLR Camera
2. Time - any on-topic photo taken at any time is eligible, although photos that have won other competitions should NOT be entered.
3. Size - Please see the Image posting rules.
4. Post-Processing - do whatever you like and the host will decide if it works.
5. Posting - * ONE PHOTO per photographer in each challenge.* Photo Name in the message subject line.* Camera model & lens used.* Notes -- post brief EXIF data including ISO, shutter speed and aperture used.
6. Commenting - No commenting during challenge. When the posting is closed and a winner has been declared, comments can be made in this thread.
7. Have FUN!


One challenge every week, on the following schedule:

* Posting Starts - Right after topic is announced.
* Posting Ends - 6:00 p.m. Pacific Time Thursday, 10 December 2009.
* Winner from this competition decides the theme of the next one (and judges it for a winner) after this competition is closed.

Thank you all for participating in this week's challenge, you all took splendid captures!

I am pressed for time, and don't want to hold out on selecting the winner until later tonight, so I'll be skipping individual critique this time.

Runner-up:

Maureen Souza's "Oh Christmas Tree"--I don't know if that tree naturaly looks that way, or if you did some PP, either way I like it a lot! I like high iso and the holidays, and you used it well. I am, however distracted by the drapes in the background, but at least it's a tidy and neat distraction. Well done!

Winner:

Daniel's "The Cold is Back"--Pure, simple and elegant. Wonderful complimentary background color. Composition is nice and tight, though I would have liked to seen a hair more Dof...just a little. Excellent capture, Daniel.
