Nice to see the 1600E again. I had a fern green one in 1973 bought with with 19000 on the clock. Kept that for almost 10 years and loved every minute. I had forgotten how nice the dash was. I loved the simplicity and how easy things were to work on. Not the case nowadays thats for sure. Great to see these pics. Thanks for posting.

Nicely preserved interior.

I remember the steering on my MkII having about 180 degrees free play in it and having to start steering into a corner before I got there!

Yes thats right I had not thought about steering boxes for years. You needed to anticipate a corner well in advance. I think we have been spoiled with rack and pinion and power steering !!

The steering box is not bad to be honest, if its in good condition there is only a small amount of play, the colour is Aquatic jade.
I have had so many good times with this car at shows and just driving around, its such a popular car with so many people.
I'm suprized they are not more expensive, most have rotted away and its hard to fined a good one, there are lots of bad ones full of filler, after fourty years i suppose its to be expected.
Iv'e been lucky the biggest job so far was to fit strut top rubber mounts to the car.
And the most expensive the webber rebuild.
