We certainly don't give enough, I hate to say it.

Throughout the year we donate to AmVets or the Goodwill. Around the Holidays we always try to give to our local food banks. One of our local grocery stores does a neat thing where they create a package of varying price for people to pick up and donate. Mostly food items, but they make it quick and easy to donate.

This year we plan to donate an old computer to a center for abused children as well.

In the spirit of the Admin Duck, I have donated a flock of ducks through www.heifer.orgexternal link. (I usually give chickens, but in this case ducks seemed more appropriate!)

The Salvation Army gets our gift....they always seem to put things to the best use...

In complete agreement there. It's a great organization.

During these these times of unrest in different parts of the globe, The Red Cross got our donation.

The Red Cross automatically gets 8% out of every paycheck I receive as a payroll deduction. I can not say enough good words for these people - They have been the first in and the last out for every hurricane I've experienced, and helped more people than I can count.

Just a great organization all the way around.

I'm constantly doing things to help others, it's not a 1 time a year gig!

I'm reminded all the time on the parenting forums I go on how bad some people have it right now. The last thing they would be thinking about is a lens for a camera costing $1000+.

Toys for tots still has drop off points until the 24th, go buy some toys and drop them off! I bet you may even have fun doing it LOL

The Salvation Army always gets my spare change or green backs. I love those kettles. What I really like about the Salvation Army is, it's run by christian ministers and the head honchos make a modest living, unlike the presidents and CEO's of too many of these charitable organizations that receive 6 figures. They do a lot of good.

My husband and I sponsor two children through Compassion International year round. At Christmas we give extra so those kids without sponsors are able to experience Christmas as well. It's a great program and I highly recommend it to anyone...we've been a part of it for 8 years and it's so great to see the kids grow up and get letters periodically from them.

Wonderful thread. As I have been fortunate in life, I feel it is my obligation to share.

I donate money when that is the only way I can help. For me personally, I prefer to donate time to a non profit like habitat for humanity or a local organization like a foodbank. And the opportunity to provide photography for use in recruiting and such is always welcomed of course.
I have to beleive that anyone that feels better when they give money to a charity would get an even deeper satisfaction from actually putting a shoulder to the wheel and helping out. I do, thats for sure.

Important bump, CDS!

This year we donated the value of our season greeting cards and stamps to save rain forests via WWF and Amnesty International. Our friends got 'just' an email card.
