For the sake of clarity and for the benefit of anyone else thinking about this configuration, I'll post my reply to the PM I received:

I don't know what the dimensions of your laptop are, but my 17" MacBook Pro takes up all of the space in there, and I don't think I could close the bag if I had a camera with a grip mounted.

All of that said, there's probably people out there that would disagree with me and just force it closed. I'm pretty careful with my gear, so I don't like to force anything to fit--I feel like it doesn't leave any room for stuff to bounce around.

So... could you get it to fit? Probably, though I think it would be obvious that the bag wasn't made to hold it.

Hope that helps!
I figured I would try and get a few images with a camera + grip to illustrate what I mean. Some people would be OK with how this fits, but it would bother me. With that said, on to the pics.

You can see the top of the bag being pulled here:

Here's showing the inside with the camera in here. If you had the bag on your shoulder, it could be difficult to get the camera out.

I have my 13" MBP in here, and you can see how the bag is being pulled in at the top. This would be more difficult to close with my 17" MBP that takes up the whole compartment

And here you can see the top of the camera protruding out quite a bit. Add some batteries, CF card wallets, or filters in the front and you might have trouble here

So you can see it works, but it just doesn't fit quite right. Hope that helps!
