2. ISO 1600 without any reservations, 3200 if I'm desperate, haven't tried beyond that. 3. I don't know if I'd call them unnecessary, even if I don't use them. I'd only think they were unnesessary if they added significant cost per unit or directed resources away from other such useful pursuits as >>>faster autofocus<<< but I doubt that they are responsible for either. 4. A & P. 5. I'd be more likely to buy and interchangeable lens version of the G1X rather than an updated version of the same camera. However if it offered an Olympus E-M5 style touchscreen interface as well as Olympus E-M5 autofocus speed I might be interested in upgrading. Despite it's shortcomings I currently intend to keep the G1X for a while and just shoot the pants off it. Last edited by Luckypenguin : 18th of May 2012 (Fri) at 18:14. |

2. Viewfinder. I get more battery life this way but I do need to set review as focus check. 3. Both. Auto for quick street shooting in Tv mode. I need a min of 1/200th or faster and just let the camera decide aperature and ISO for me. I use manual iso for any shoot where I have control over flash power. 4. Everything but mostly food styling and family outings. It would be incredibly difficult to photograph my nephews indoor hockey due to slow f5.8 on the long end and very slow continuous burst speed. But you can use the hyper speed scene mode and shoot 5fps at 28mm for max f2.8 for 1 burst round only. SO it is doable for indoor sports but you need to work around the limitations and max out G1x capability. 5. No metering info when back screen is off. I have to shoot in Av or Tv and use the exp comp dial to shoot with backscreen off because I prefer saving battery and using OVF. 6. AF dot in OVF, and MF ring on the lens. Rotating the dial on the back is abit cumbersome. 7. Yes. Some of my best photos are with my older G10 simply because of flash sync speeds, macro ability and portability. 8. Great Value. It matches my 7D in ISO noise and G1x is paired an incredibly sharp lens. 9. Yes, I can flash sync beyond 1/200 or 1/250 without expensive pocket wizards. It's also small for what you get. G1x is much smaller than mirrorless cams paired with a zoom lens of equivalent focal length. 10. 90%. The biggest downside for me is No Metering info when back screen is off. I would be able to shoot in full M mode with backscreen off if it had this info (in the VF if possible). |

1 Which format do you find you are using most RAW or JPEG. RAW
2 What means of vision are you using most VIEWFINDER or VIEWSCREEN Viewscreen 3 How do you operate ISO by AUTO or MANUAL. Manual 4 What is your main function with this camera LANDSCAPE, URBAN, PORTRAIT. All, except macro ! 5 Which annoys you most FOCUS TIME, SHUTTER LAG, CAMERA SHUT DOWN. Hitting focus in low light 6 What 2 important features you would like to see on the Mk 2 version. Improved ergonomics - Delete and Review buttons are particularly unwieldy. Swap ISO & Exposure Compensation functions 7 Based on your experience using this camera would you still buy it. Yes 8 On image quality alone is the G1x good value for money. Oh, yes. 9 If you have a DSLR has the G1x changed your approach to photography. No 10 You review this camera what rating would you give 70-80-90% etc. 85% --------- 1 Would you like to see the lens slightly wider, slightly longer or both. 24-140 equiv. would be nice, if no associated hit in bulk and IQ 2 From a high ISO point of view which value are you comfortable with....1600, 2400, 3200 etc. 1600 3 What functions do you think are unnessary HDR, Fish Eye etc. SCN options 4 Which mode do you use most, do you make use of the C1, C2 settings. M, yes 5 If the mk 11 came with faster focus, reduced shutter and shorter focussing distance would you buy it. Hmmm - don't think so; fairly happy with it despite niggles.

1 Which format do you find you are using most RAW or JPEG. RAW [Save when using the Sports scene mode. I do PP using almost only LR4]
2 What means of vision are you using most VIEWFINDER or VIEWSCREEN Viewscreen [Tilt screen is great] 3 How do you operate ISO by AUTO or MANUAL. Manual [Never used Auto ISO with any of my cameras] 4 What is your main function with this camera LANDSCAPE, URBAN, PORTRAIT. Anything goes. [Great for business travel, when photo is not the main business and you still want a good camera without lugging your DSLR.] 5 Which annoys you most FOCUS TIME, SHUTTER LAG, CAMERA SHUT DOWN. Focus time [Although it's not so bad in Sports scene mode] 6 What 2 important features you would like to see on the Mk 2 version. ISO back on hardware dial. 7 Based on your experience using this camera would you still buy it. Yes 8 On image quality alone is the G1x good value for money. Yes. [I had (still have, until I sell it) a G11 I used for travel; good cam, but I was always a bit disappointed by IQ, as soon as you stop shooting in bright light.] 9 If you have a DSLR has the G1x changed your approach to photography. Yes [Given the excellent IQ, I am prone to using the G1 X more often] 10 You review this camera what rating would you give 70-80-90% etc. 85% --------- 1 Would you like to see the lens slightly wider, slightly longer or both. Slightly longer would be great. It's already wide enough to cause image distortion. 2 From a high ISO point of view which value are you comfortable with....1600, 2400, 3200 etc. 1600 [Not really ventured beyond, although shooting mostly in RAW with LR4 should take care of a lot of noise issues]3 What functions do you think are unnecessary HDR, Fish Eye etc. Fish eye, in camera effects, color filters etc... (better applied in PP if needed) 4 Which mode do you use most, do you make use of the C1, C2 settings. Av 5 If the mk 11 came with faster focus, reduced shutter and shorter focusing distance would you buy it. Probably [Reselling the MK1 to compensate, and provided the MK2's price does not go beyond the MK1's]
