Here is a different way to look at this. If I produced a DVD that was competing with Jason, I would rather than mine was being pirated over Jason’s, more exposure for me. Photoshop is the most pirated software in the world and it is also the industry standard. Do you think Adobe would rather their competition was more popular with pirates.

It is theft!
It is absolutely not theft. It is copyright infringement.

I know this is and old thread, but It reminded me what Radiohead (the rock band) did to release an album for free with an option to donate and/or upgrade to a hardcopy.

Somewhat close to what Louis Ck and other comedians are doing now.

^ yah but thats a little different, RADIOHEAD and or insert popular band with a huge following cant be compared to some photographer that no one knows or the photog has no history in the public eyes.

Either way its two different things and the model while it could possibly be used, it will not work.

Yea that article is complete b.s. and old. Radiohead has made comments since then talking about the number.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/In_Rainbows

wired said 1.2 million downloads.. were the real number is closer to 50K to a 100K downloads.. If you read articles from the last couple years, the band pretty much said, that didn't work, it would be nice if we got paid.
