Lovely set of shots Bas. These are so small so you have done a good job.

#1 is fine for comp purposes and because of the angle of the others I dont think cropping could help at all. I know its pretty difficult sometimes to get the best angle and you often have to get any angle that you can. Sometimes if you hang around for a while they might move to a better position.

I dont think you should write them off, #1 is a def keeper but its only you who can decide whether you write off any shots as we all have different ideas.

Linda

Thanks Linda.

I keep a lot of shots that are strictly not keepers so I am not going to erase anyhting. What I am trying to do is not post too many that should be discarded!

Still these were my first shots of picture wings so I am still pleased I managed them.

(I have to say I agree totally they are not that special, BTW)
You could probably crop #1 a bit to take the fly to the right but think the others were just taken too close.
I do try to get a reasonable composition when shooting but obviously this depends on how active the bug is and I do sometimes do some marginal cropping to improve the composition. I think this all gets a bit easier with experience simply because you are not so much in a rush to capture the "new" bug - you've seen them all before.
