Default OK I need help with an upcoming photo shoot.

Portrait session and some wide angle shots to cover the whole room. What I have, 2 Canon 580 ex II wih stands and umbrella brackets. I don't have any umbrella or softboxes.
Looking at the cost I don't think a softbox will be a good investment for this shoot however the umbrellas are with in the range.
What type and size umbrella do you reccomend or should I stick with bare speedlites bouncing from the walls?

I have 2 westocotte 45" shoot through umbrellas and love them. How tall is the ceiling? what is the main aspect of getting the whole room? I ask this because if the ceiling is low enough you may want to bounce the light off of the ceiling to get as much even light as you can. Or you can try to use cross lighting with bare flashes to even light things.... you just have to becareful of cross shadows.

if strictly bouncing off the ceiling, have to watch out for raccoon eyes.

a couple of 60" reversible umbrellas might run you around $70 total. you can either bounce, shoot-thru, or even close them down and use them sort of like a softbox if needed.

It will be a regular apartment/house ceiling. Idea is to light up the person and a larger area around her to show the furniture etc.
I was looking at 40-45 convertible umbrellas. Do you think a 580 exII powerful enough for a 60" ?

I know it's a different animal but I wonder if I should go with a Softbox?

Not if you want to light up the whole room as well.
