Default Keeping flash attached to the camera

Is there any harm in keeping flash attached to the camera when not in use?
I was doing that with 7D, it was pretty much permanently on, and at some point embedded flash stopped retracting, the springy flash contacts got bent so I've started religiously disconnecting flash after each use but that slows me down when at the right moment I need to grab the camera, connect the flash and only then shoot.

You won't hurt it.

I'd suggest you put it away when you aren't using it, but only for the reason that you could knock the flash and damage the hotshoe.

+1
Every 6 months or so I damage the mount on one of my 580ex2, just from always having them on the cameras
I have stopped mounting the flash all the time, and have reduced the incidence of damaged mounts
