Once it's my full time profession then yea it's not an issue to spend 2 full days doing that but until then I may have to outsource but its a catch 22 because I'm not charging heaps due to the fact I have no real portfolio for this type of work. The customers have seen my landscapes and other portraiture work and accepted me based on that but I didn't shoot for the sky on price as I am happy to land a wedding gig at the moment.

If you don't have time to do wedding photography well I suggest you don't do it. All you'll get is unhappy customers and a poor reputation.

All of my client's images are fully edited. Then I go back through and selectively pull out a few to do other things to, whether that be B&W, soft focus, or other things.

To me, B&W is something to be used selectively just like anything else. There are images that can be made more powerful by taking away the distraction of color and drawing you in to the emotion of the captured moment. But (IMO and for the clients that I attract), there is no need or reason to do B&W's of group family shots.

Clients are always given the base color version for every image that I do effects processing on.

Ok yea I like the idea of doing 15-20 B&W's in every 100 but still giving the colours for those too.

We don't have a set number of B&W that we try to maintain. After all photos from the event are properly processed, I will go back through and convert only those that will actuall benefit from the conversion. We also look at things like soft focus, saturation changes, etc.

Ask yourself this: if it was your wedding, what would you want?
I do pretty much the same thing.

Everything I deliver in B&W, I also deliver in color unless the situation does not permit it (like getting ready room with florescent and tungsten lights.
