Default Card Stock Material?

My wife would like some personalized Thank You notes made with some of my images on them. I'm looking for some heavy stock (I have 48 lb brochure stock that is about the right weight) that has a gloss finish on one side and plain matte on the other for writing the inside remarks. All photo paper that I can find has watermarks on the backside which would show on the inside of a folded note. The design is such that each 8.5" x 11" sheet would make two cards. I don't want a large quantity since these are for personal use. Any suggestions on a material and source?

Yes, Red River Paper (google them). They sell a variety of card stocks in different sizes. You can buy a sampler pack for very little, I think around $12. They have glossy, luster, and matte finishes. I have used two of the matte finishes and one fine art, and the results are great. I have not tried the various glossy ones. They also sell boxes of envelopes inexpensively, with a choice of 4 or 5 papers.

One thing to be careful about: matte surfaces soak up a lot of ink. Writing with some pens will spread.
