I use this along with my carryspeed sling. I typically unmount the carryspeed if I'm at home or someone else's home. For eventish type photography, the carryspeed is god's gift to man, but when I shoot and store in bag often, rope strap is all I need.

I found the instructions on this forum, and had a proper rope until I found the glowstick rope and it gave me an idea. Same concept as the regular rope, but with the ends, I could use it to tighten to my wrist for that extra security.

that red string/handgrip will do more harm than good. Imagine if you drop your camera suddenly; all of that force would cut into your wrist since there the fabric is not spread out enough to distribute the load.

This one is extremely comfortable, inexpensive and I easily trade out with my OpTech neck strap when needed.

I got away with buying new lenses this way, so now everything is taped. Should I buy the 5D3 and tape it up, she wouldnt know the difference. Genius idea!

some people prefer to shoot raw without straps. I assure you, this cord is very strong, and a lanyard knot isnt coming loose, and this rope is probably good enough to do some serious damage to my wrist before it ever snaps. If I'm not strong enough to rip it with my bare hands, it's strong enough as a camera strap.

LMFAO! hahaahahaha I died while reading this. That is awesome.

Though, that is a horrible looking strap! I don't see how this doesn't hurt you?

The strap is simply for protection, when I'm shooting and storing in a bag often. It's not intended to stay hanging on my wrist. I love shooting with just the string, it's a lot of freedom to move around and still have that security. When I'm out on the streets, the sling is a joy to use.

Gonna need more than a few rolls of tape for the 800.
