Default My first attempt at star trails.

Ok, this was sooooooooooooooooooooo much fun, i've been waiting ages to do this and finally today I got the chance. I got lucky especially in this horrible cloudy British weather.

Near the end of my shots the clouds started coming in but I still managed to get enough to give me this.

That tree is kinda annoying I wish I could've got it to look better but hopefully next time i'll do a better job.

What do you guys think?

I think it's great. The tree is a good foreground object for perspective. What were your exposure settings?

Very nice for your first time! Maybe next time you could get polaris in the shot

Thankyou. I just feel it could've looked a little neater, the composition is not right. Hopefully next time though i'll be somewhere a little nicer than my back yard lol.

I just tried to look for exif info on my flickr but for some reason my camera setting details aren't showing, it might have something to do with them being stacked.

30 seconds and f/2.8

Thanks alot, definitely going to try that next time. This was my first attempt so I had no idea the stars would form a circle lol.

Do you live in the norther hemisphere? If you want an easy way to find polaris (the star which all stars rotate around), first find the big dipper. Locate the two stars which make up the tip of the dipper, the part you might sip from if it was a spoon. Visualize a line forming between them and follow it up to the next brightest star, which will be polaris

Here's a nice diagram:

You can see that polaris also forms the tail of the little dipper!

That's awesome! I like the tree also.

My first attempt ended with a completely white picture lol
