Default When buying second hand:shots taken?

Well, just considering buying a 300d second hand locally. Have been told the camera has taken around 4500 shots, with the camera been bought in september.Would this be counted as a lot or a little? Also, say the shutter was to mess up, what would be the cost to replace (out of warrenty?)

Thanks

Im not sure what the figures are for the 300, but... 4500 isn't very many pictures in the overall life of a camera. (There are many people here who would shoot that in a weekend.)

My guess is, the shutter can be triggered at least 75,000-100,000 times before you would need the "routine" replacement. I believe that costs around $300 or so, but Im not sure.

Shutter life for the 300D is generally assumed to be on the order of 50,000 shots, so you've probably got about 90% of the shutter's life left. Currently it's only about a $200 repair, even then.

I must have answered this around 10 times, or more, right here alone, most recently today. Sorry - it really needs to be a Canon FAQ. Ifyou use (and always did) continuous numbering, and if you nevermixed in a CF card from another camera, and if it wasn't a demo at the store, and if you aren't counting "dry firings" (with no card in), it's the (folder number -100) concatenated with the last 2 digits of the file name. So \DCIM\123CANON\IMG_2373.JPG would be picture #2373, while \DCIM\223CANON\IMG_2373.JPG would be picture #12373.
