Just received the Sigma 30mm 1.4 from a very reputable vendor (BH Photo). I must be crazy, but it seems like the included hood is way too big for the lens. Is this a returned item.

Hard to tell from those shots for me, but in the 2nd pic it does look like it is a petal hood so it may or may not be the right one.

edit: actually, looking more closely, the petals don't seem to be the right shape. Try taking a picture of the hood from the side so we can see it properly?

That hood looks like the hood off of the 17-50.

It looks like they gave you the hood for the sigma 50 1.4 instead of the 30 1.4.

Care to share who this "reputable" seller is?

Call them. Let them know the part numbers of the lens and of the hood and they will make things right for you.

Yeah, I pulled out my 17-50 sigma as soon as I saw that pic to check and then saw someone had already posted it. I haven't seen the 50mm 1.4 hood in person, but it's definitely one of the two (or are they the same?)

I will be exchanging everything. I am not sure why a different hood was included in the first place. Must be a returned item.

It's definitely the wrong hood the locking tabs on the bayonet aren't even close to each other, must be a returned item, wouldn't expect Sigma to make that mistake out of the factory.
