Had my SD750 for years, any other users have tips?
My first post here, just joined up.
I've had a PowerShot SD750 for a few years now and taken several hundred pictures. I like to get outdoors and travel (when I can) and find this camera perfect for that. I use the auto settings pretty much ALL the time. I guess I use it as a point and shoot.
Anyway, I wonder if I might be able to get more effective pictures by using the manual setting and playing around with the camera a bit more. I wondered if any of you who use this camera are able to get better pictures by bypassing the auto settings and using it in manual mode?
I guess I was hoping for some tips, things you do that tend to bring better pictures out of your PowerShot. I am not a camera expert, to put it lightly, but if I could learn even one trick/tip/bit of advice that might better my pictures, than this post will have been worthwhile.
I do love the camera but I'm not usually blown away by my picture's detail. I guess I'd just need a more expensive, high-resolution camera to get the sort of great detail I might like. The auto-zoom is better than nothing, but any large zoom of course leaves my pictures less than sharp.
Also, I very rarely use the flash, I turn that off. Most of my pics are in light anyway. The flash generally gives my photos a very artificial look, I just don't like it.
So, anybody who's read this far, I would greatly appreciate any tips of how you get the most out of your SD-750 or comparable camera. Hope you don't mind me asking.

Your best bet would be to put the camera in Aperture Priority (Av) and control the camera this way. By selecting your aperture, you control the amount of light and depth of field in the image. It is a good way to start, adjusting the ISO and Exposure Comp. with it to get the images you want.
9.99/10 this will yield better results than full auto... From P&S to advanced SLR's.
