I checked out the 60D again today and was suitably impressed. I couldn't help thinking though how long the swivel screen will remain sturdy for. Does anyone have any feedback.....good, bad or indifferent?

to me it's solid. i had an S5IS with the variangle screen and used it for years without it ever loosening up or failing in anyway, and the variangle screen on the 60D feels more solid than the S5IS. i'm impressed with it, and the ability to shoot different angles, and especially for video is a definite plus.

Same here. I have the little SX10 P&S and the wife has never had any problems with the swivel screen.

I had on many years ago on my first Canon camera, G-1. I loved it for holding the camera at unusual angles like close to the ground. I found it very helpful and it encouraged creativity. I have always been wondering why it took them so long, the reason is that the articulating LCD is very useful for video work, and Canon dSLR has been doing well selling for the video application.
If you are worried about its vulnerability, fold it so that it is facing out and flush to the camera back like a normal dSLR LCD. Then you never have to move it.

I wouldn't worry too much. It's not like articulating screens are a breakthrough thing.

I just picked up a used G5 this afternoon.... That's from what, 2004? It's got a swivel screen (altho a little small and dim by today's standards) and still works just fine.
I'd love to have the articulated LCD on my 7Ds and 5DII!

Whats the point? Isn't that why they incorporated it on the 60D?
