Default Newborn: Ira

Ira was 12 days old for this shoot. All shot with natural available light. I could not get over the amount of hair she had. The shot on what looks like a mirror of shorts was actually the kitchen table - dark smoked glass. When the background pink paper was put in place it created a fantastic colour in the table that I could not refuse. Overall I really like the session. I am starting to use the Nik Silver Effects much more for the black and whites - I find it adds way more depth to the shots.

Nik is a software. I have it as a plug in for Aperture 3. Silver Efex is actually a black and white conversion program. I know I could do most of it myself, but it is just so much easier to get great results from it right out of the box.

Here is a before shot of #1. I had to use Aperture (crop, exposure, black point), photoshop (cloning some black areas) and then finished with Nik Silver Efex (convert to B&W). Total time about 3 minutes.

Number 1 is outstanding. I agree about the hair.

On a personal note, I wanted to thank you for your earlier tutorial on the back and white technique. It was really helpful to me when our daughter was born a coupe of weeks ago.

Thank you. The mirror shot was a dark smoke glass kitchen table with the parent holding the paper behind.
