New batteries. Doesn't turn on. Did leave batteries in it, but no corrosion or anything. Any clues? Is there a reset? Is it worth sending to Canon to fix?

OMG! It worked. Funny. The first time I tried it I thought I heard it start to whine, like it does when it starts. Then nothing. Tried it again and viola. Much Thanks! Now, I am wondering why it worked and what caused it?
