I hope this is in the correct place..
OK, last year I bought an IXUS 210, I only use it for personal stuff and have no background in photography. It is great in most circumstances apart from this one. I go to a lot of concerts and like to get some videos as well as photos when I'm there of whatever band I'm seeing. However, the audio quality is terrible on recordings I have made that have any bass on them at all. Is there a way that I can reduce the bass level when recording a video? This is really bugging me now and I'm sure that it's something really simple that I am not doing or need to switch on. I'm going to see my favourite band this Friday and will be gutted if they all come out terrible again. Any help or advice would be very much appreciated! I can post a couple of links to previous recordings if this helps. |

I probably wouldn't want to record audio on any camera that cheap, and on-board audio is quite frankly going to sound bad on any camera... My camcorder currently has a $250 mic on it, and it's only passable for what I do, so I'm planning on some serious upgrades.
You won't be able to do anything with the camera to fix the audio, but buying a separate recorder is a place to start.

Aside from basic physics of sound intensity vs. distance, which says you will get dramatically better results the closer you are, no not really. Sorry.
I looked on the CHDK page (open source firmware for some Canon cameras) to see if a firmware was available for your camera, but its not supported as far as I can tell. If it was, I think they have an option for better bit rate, but I'm not sure on that. http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CHDK This may not be what you are looking for, but just some food for though 100$ http://www.zoom.co.jp/english/products/h1/ 300$ http://www.zoom.co.jp/english/products/q3hd/ |

Buy an external recorder like a Zoom H4n or a Tascam DR100 and record your audio. Then sync your audio and your video back together in whatever editor you use.

Pretty much that. The Tascam is the better choice when used with an external mic.

Not to say it's not good advice, but is it really practical here. Just a thought. |

There is no way to improve on-camera audio. Happy?
