So tonight I was doing sound for a concert (my real job). During the show there was a guy wandering around taking pictures. I could spot the red ring L lens from a distance. At the end of the night, he had left his L lens just sitting on one of our road cases on its own, the owner nowhere in sight. I went and found the guy and made sure he got his lens. But just a reminder to you guys: don't leave lenses lying out in the open in plain sight in a public place. The next guy who finds it might not be so honest and wouldn't think twice about jacking an expensive lens.

An old shot with the cheapest tele L lens (70-200 4L (non-IS))
and another one with the same lens..This one is a HDR from one image - 3 different exposures combined. Last edited by proletsearch : 15th of April 2012 (Sun) at 10:28. |

Water Birds...except for the mama duck on her nest, these were all shot handheld from about 30-40 yards and cropped like crazy. I was close enough to mama duck that she was hissing at me while sitting on a clutch of about 10 eggs.

Hi guys, some really great work here! I was suprised that a lot of these were done with the kit 18-55.
I'm new to the T3i, coming from a Nikon D40. I cannot for the life of me get this T3i to behave. Almost every shot I take (indoor, outdoor, doesn't matter) has dull or desaturated colors. To be honest, they look great on the camera's LCD screen, but on my computer they just look really bland and not sharp at all. I have tried almost everything, even trying to make my own picture profile. I'm shooting in manual mode, with a 50mm 1.8, and a Helios 44M. I don't have a kit lens. I've tried changing white balance settings and picture profiles, but I have heard that AWB does fine for general shooting, so I usually leave it on that. Here is an example of what I'm talking about. Notice how the colors compared to the Nikon are really dull. Both cameras are metered according to their built-in light meters, about 1 stop down. The only difference is the aperture setting (sorry for the long horizontal scroll): How are you guys getting such vibrant colors and sharpness in your images? What picture profiles and metering modes are you using for photography? And how much are you guys changing the images in post? Thanks for anyone taking the time to read this, and for any help/advice. I want to love this camera the way you all do. I am about to pull the trigger on the 24-70 L lens, but I'm hesitant because I'm having so much trouble. |

I have a 60D. Same sensor. I have 3 Custom profiles available. I have one that I cranked up the saturation and contrast to my liking.
Of course, shooting RAW you can do the same in PP and make an action of it. Either way, it works... ![]() ExiF intact, note the ISO...

Hi folks, I've only had the 600D a few weeks and still getting to grips with the differences with the 300D, however I'm fairly pleased with these so here are a couple of Ducks from today
